Analytics Module FAQs

Is the data that is shown just from my card processing data?

Global Payments has partnered with one of the world’s largest payment networks to aggregate and anonymize your data and data from your competitors so you can see how you match up to the competition.

How often is the data updated?

Data is updated monthly for each of the following charts, unless otherwise noted. When merchants kick off the matching process, they should see data within 14 business days.

How is Benchmark different than Customer Intelligence?

Benchmark includes charts that are specific to the merchant’s processing data in comparison to merchant competitors. For more on competitors, see below. Information included in Benchmark is available for both suppressed and unsuppressed MCCs.

Customer Intelligence includes charts that contain specific demographic data such as a customer’s income, education, and family status. This data is not specific to card transactions at the merchant location, but instead is being aggregated and anonymized from the payment network. Demographic data included in Customer Intelligence is not available for suppressed MCCs.

How are competitors chosen for the reports?

The payment network has “Merchant Industry Names” such as “Eating Places” where each of their merchants is categorized into. Competitors are merchants where your customers make purchases that share the same “Merchant Industry Name” as you do.

How are the regions selected on the “Reach” tab?

Postal Codes associated with Customer’s credit cards show up on the reach tab. The Postal Codes that show up most frequently will appear here. When a customer makes a transaction, whichever Postal Code is associated with that card will get +1 for the sake of this chart. Competitors Reach have the added layer of the above definition.

How do I pull customer contact information for each of the charts displayed?

Due to privacy laws, merchants are not able to pull customer contact information from either the Customer Intelligence or Benchmark modules.
