Customer Engagement Suite FAQs

Analytics Module FAQs

What is the Analytics core offering?

Analytics leverages payment processing data that enables businesses to quickly validate their marketing and advertising effectiveness by comparing metrics related to new vs. returning customers.

What type of information does Analytics offer?

With Analytics, businesses are able to see the following information:

  • New vs. repeat customers
  • Visitor trend tracking
  • Average ticket
  • Sales
  • Visits

Importantly, it also includes a Daybook feature that is used to manually add events (such as fundraisers, campaigns, or specials) to help note outlying performance spikes/dips. Although it may seem simple, providing visibility into new vs. repeat buying patterns matched with this feature gives small businesses similar power as large companies running “big data” programs.

How will a customer who uses two different credit cards or is issued a new card appear in Analytics?

Returning visits and sales are categorized by the appearance of new and repeat credit cards. A new card will appear as a new customer in Analytics.

What is included in the ticket totals?

Only authorizations are included in the ticket totals - tips are not included.

Can I view multiple locations at a time?

Yes. If the user is in a chain, they can select up to six locations to view at any time using the "Filter Locations" field in the top left of the screen.

How current is the information provided in Analytics?

Data from the previous day should be posted by 9am local time. Holidays can affect this posting timeline.

What does MoM mean?

Month over month - current month view compared to same month of previous year. (For example: If you take January 2017 to January 2018, the previous period will be calculated as December 2016 to December 2017. It is a whole period with a one-month shift).

What does YoY mean?

Calendar date comparison – year over year. (As with MoM, it should not be used to evaluate brief periods i.e. one month or less).

Why can’t I see weather statistics on the sales/visits graph?

You must also be subscribed to Customer Intelligence in order to see weather for a location. Weather is only visible when a single location is selected.
